Buy the correct length. That is UTV Zilla's own instruction. Too long and it bottoms out before it clamps; too short and it will not reach the thread.

Which length do I need?
Match it to your windshield. UTV Zilla uses 3/4" on the X3, RS1 and Wildcat XX glass windshields and the 2019 RZR vented poly; 1/2" on the Turbo S, 2019 RZR XP and RZR 900/1000 glass windshields. Tell us which shield you have and we will confirm.
What is in the pack?
Four thumb screws and four rubber washers. One pack does a windshield with four mounting points.
What is the rubber washer for?
It spreads the load and seals the hole so the screw is not sitting metal-on-metal against the frame, which is where rattles and scratches start.
Can I just use a normal bolt?
Mechanically yes, but then you need a tool every time the shield comes off, which defeats the purpose. The whole point is finger tight.
Are they strong enough?
They are 1/4" stainless with a moulded head. The head is plastic, so do not put a wrench on them - hand tight is the design intent.
