Its two holes sit 1.912 inches center to center, the industry-standard 2-hole AMPS spacing, so it bolts to a dash, bracket or switch panel, or to the back of a RAM holder or cradle that uses that pattern.
The narrow diamond shape fits places a round plate will not, such as the face of a gauge pod, a narrow dash rib or a cage-mounted tab. It is the same base RAM uses on its Twist-Lock suction cup assembly.
