Configuration

In stock

Polaris Ranger 1000 ball joints fail at the snap ring, not at the joint itself. Keller ball joints remove that failure point completely: the two-piece housing threads into the A-arm like a nut and bolt, so there is no clip to shear and nothing to pull out. Hardened 4340 chromoly, greaseable and rebuildable, and sold as uppers, lowers, or a full front-end set.

Polaris changed the Ranger 1000 upper joint in 2021, so uppers are listed separately for 2020 and for 2021 onward. Lowers are the same part across every year.

Key Features

  • 4340 hardened chromoly steel construction
  • Two-piece threaded design doesn't require a snap ring
  • Easily adjustable, rebuildable, and greaseable
  • Robust boot retaining ring prevents water intrusion
  • No A-arm modification required
  • Sold as single joints, pairs, or a full set of four
  • Year-correct uppers for 2020 and for 2021 onward

Built To Solve: Ranger 1000 Ball Joint Pull-Out and Snap Ring Failure

  • Snap ring shears and the joint separates from the A-arm under load
  • Clunking or knocking from the front end over ruts, rocks and washboard
  • Visible play when the wheel is rocked top-to-bottom on a jack
  • Repeat OEM joint failures on a Ranger 1000 that tows, plows or carries weight
  • Torn boots admitting water and grit so the joint wears from the inside
  • Replacing the same joint often enough that it has become routine maintenance

Best For: Working and Trail-Ridden Polaris Ranger 1000 Builds

  • Ranger 1000 owners who tow, plow, or haul with a loaded bed
  • Ranger 1000 Crew owners carrying passengers and more weight through the front end
  • Riders who have already replaced OEM joints more than once
  • Machines running larger tires or added lift
  • Anyone rebuilding a front end who wants to do it once

If the joints are sound but the boots are torn, the Keller boot replacement kit is the cheaper fix. If the housings are good and only the internals are worn, the Keller rebuild kit for Polaris UTVs services them.

Fitment

Polaris Ranger 1000, 2020 onward, and Polaris Ranger 1000 Crew, 2020 onward.

Uppers are year-specific: order the 2020 upper for a 2020 machine and the 2021+ upper for 2021 and newer. Lowers fit every year. The four-joint full front-end set is offered for 2021 and newer only, so a 2020 machine takes two 2020 uppers plus two lowers.

Fitment is not guaranteed on applications not listed above — confirm your model year before ordering.

FAQ

Why do Ranger 1000 ball joints pull out of the A-arm?

The factory joint is held in by a snap ring seated in a groove. Load from towing, plowing or a full bed, plus the extra leverage of bigger tires, can deform or shear that ring, and once it goes the joint has nothing holding it. Keller joints thread into the A-arm instead, so there is no clip to fail.

Does the 2020 Ranger 1000 use a different upper ball joint?

Yes. Polaris changed the upper for 2021, so the upper is ordered by year — one part for 2020 and a different one for 2021 and newer. The lower joint is the same across every year, so it is not year-specific.

Do these fit the Ranger 1000 Crew?

Yes. Coverage runs from 2020 onward on both the two-row Ranger 1000 and the Ranger 1000 Crew. The Crew carries more weight through the front end, which is usually why its joints wear first.

Do I need uppers, lowers, or both?

They are sold separately so you can replace just what has failed. Uppers and lowers are different parts on the Ranger 1000. If you are rebuilding a front end at high hours, the set of four covers two uppers and two lowers on 2021 and newer machines; a 2020 machine takes two 2020 uppers plus two lowers ordered as pairs.

How are Keller ball joints installed?

They thread into the A-arm rather than pressing in behind a clip. Todd Keller demonstrates the process in the official SuperATV video linked below. Support the machine properly and allow time to grease and set them correctly.

Can I rebuild these instead of replacing them?

Yes, and that is the point of the design. They grease and adjust, and the Keller rebuild kit for Polaris UTVs services the internals when they eventually wear, so a worn joint gets serviced rather than binned.

Why Keller

Todd Keller designed the two-piece threaded ball joint to fix the one part of a stock front end that keeps failing, and SuperATV now builds and backs the line. The design has barely changed because it does not need to: thread the housing in like a nut and bolt, use a chromoly stud, and make the whole assembly serviceable so a worn joint gets rebuilt rather than replaced.

Complete Your Ranger 1000 Front End Rebuild

Before ordering, confirm your model year — that decides which upper you need — and whether you are replacing uppers, lowers, or all four. If the joints are sound but the boots are torn, the boot replacement kit is the cheaper fix. If the housings are good and the internals are worn, the Keller rebuild kit for Polaris UTVs services them. Riders doing a full front end usually check tie rods and A-arm bushings while everything is already apart.
