The 2018 and newer Polaris RZR Turbo S carries more travel, more weight and more speed than the 64-inch cars, and the factory tie rod is still the first steering part to bend. This LM UTV Polaris RZR Steering Tie Rods (+72in/Heim) kit replaces them with a 7075 Aircraft grade aluminum tie rod on 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Heim joints and a Heat treated 4340 Chromolly inner clevis.

LM UTV lists this as the 2018+ Polaris RZR Turbo S (72″) Steering Tie Rod Kit and a Complete steering upgrade for the Polaris RZR, installed as a Direct Bolt-on Replacement on the factory steering mounting points. It is the 72-inch Turbo S part number specifically, not a 64-inch XP kit stretched to fit.

Built To Solve: Bent Steering Tie Rods On The 72-Inch Polaris RZR Turbo S

  • A stock rod that bends on a whooped-out road at Turbo S speed. The heavier, wider car loads the steering harder, and the factory rod is where that load stops.
  • Steering that no longer tracks straight after a hit. A deformed rod holds the wrong front toe, and a 72-inch car makes that misalignment obvious at speed.
  • Play at the wheel from worn factory ends. The 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Heim joints are rebuildable, so the joint can be refreshed instead of replaced whole.
  • Repeat failures at the inner end. A Heat treated 4340 Chromolly inner clevis puts heat treated steel at the connection that keeps giving up.
  • Corroded steering hardware that fights you at teardown. Heat treated 17-4 Stainless Steel hardware and spacers keep the assembly serviceable.
  • Front tire edges wearing away between trips. Bad toe eats tires quietly, and on a Turbo S those are not cheap tires.

Best For: 2018 And Newer 72-Inch Polaris RZR Turbo S Owners Running Fast, Rough Terrain

  • Owners of 2018 and newer Polaris RZR Turbo S machines on the 72-inch chassis
  • Desert and high-speed riders loading the front end through whoops and rough two-track
  • Dune riders who want the steering to hold its geometry through repeated hard landings
  • Owners rebuilding a front end after bending a factory tie rod
  • Builders who prefer a serviceable heim joint over sealed OEM ends
  • Anyone with a non-standard front setup — Custom lengths available by request
  • Owners of 64-inch cars — Polaris RZR XP 1000, XP 4 1000, XP Turbo and XP 4 Turbo — are on a narrower chassis and need their own part number: LMU-STR-01-02 for 2014-2017 cars and the RS1, LMU-STR-01-03 for 2017.5-2020 XP 1000 and Turbo cars. The 72-inch Turbo S rods do not cross over.

Fitment

Fits 2018 and newer Polaris RZR Turbo S models on the 72-inch chassis, covering 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 model years. LM UTV states the fitment as: 2018+ Polaris RZR Turbo S (72″) Steering Tie Rod Kit, Complete steering upgrade for the Polaris RZR. This is the Turbo S 72-inch part number only. The 64-inch cars — Polaris RZR XP 1000, RZR XP 4 1000, RZR XP Turbo and RZR XP 4 Turbo — take a different kit, and so does the RS1. Fitment is not guaranteed on applications not listed here.

FAQ

Why does the tie rod bend first on a Polaris RZR Turbo S?

It is the smallest-section piece in the steering path, so when the front wheel takes a hit the rod deforms before the rack or the knuckle does. That is not a bad design in itself — something has to be the fuse — but the factory rod bends far earlier than it needs to.

My Turbo S pulls to one side and the inside tire edges are wearing — could that be the tie rods?

Yes, that pattern is typical of a bent rod. It sets the wrong front toe on that side, which shows up as a pull and as scrubbed inside tire edges. New rods on both sides plus a front alignment fixes the cause instead of the symptom.

Will this 72-inch kit fit a Polaris RZR XP 1000 or XP Turbo?

No. This part number is the 2018+ Polaris RZR Turbo S (72″) Steering Tie Rod Kit. The XP 1000 and XP Turbo are 64-inch cars and take their own kits — LMU-STR-01-02 for 2014-2017 cars and the RS1, LMU-STR-01-03 for 2017.5-2020 cars.

What are the rods, joints and hardware made of?

The rod is a 7075 Aircraft grade aluminum tie rod. The joints are 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Heim joints, the inner end is a Heat treated 4340 Chromolly inner clevis, and the fasteners are Heat treated 17-4 Stainless Steel hardware and spacers. Finish is machined finished or Type 3 Hard Black Powder Coat.

Does installing these require cutting or welding?

No. LM UTV lists the kit as a Direct Bolt-on Replacement using the factory steering mounting points. Fit both sides, then have the front alignment set so toe is correct with the new rods installed.

How does this differ from the long travel tie rod kits?

Length. This kit is sized for the factory 72-inch Turbo S front end. The long travel kits are sized to a specific per-side long travel increase — 3.5in per side on LMU-STR-01-07 and 4.0in per side on LMU-STR-01-08 — and are the right choice only if you have actually fitted a long travel kit of that width. Construction is the same across all of them.

Upgrade The Steering On Your 72-Inch Polaris RZR Turbo S

Confirm you are on a 2018 or newer Turbo S on the 72-inch chassis rather than a 64-inch XP car, then choose your finish, machined finished or Type 3 Hard Black Powder Coat. If your front end is not stock width, say so when you order, because Custom lengths available by request. After install, get a front alignment so toe is actually set with the new rods, and think about where the load travels next: the steering rack, the front ball joints and the knuckles all see what the old tie rod used to give up. The matching Turbo S 72-inch radius rods and a spare set of 5/8 heim joints are the companion parts worth having on hand.
