FAQ
Why do Xpedition ball joints push out of the A-arm?
The OEM joint relies on a snap ring seated in a groove to hold it in place. That ring can break — Keller calls it the biggest weak spot in the stock design — and once it does, the joint has nothing retaining it. Keller joints thread into the arm instead, so no clip is carrying the load.
Do these fit the five-seat ADV 5 and XP 5?
Yes. ADV 5 and XP 5 in NorthStar, Premium and Ultimate trims are all covered from 2024 onward, the same as the two-row models.
Do I need uppers, lowers, or both?
Uppers and lowers are separate parts, sold individually so you can replace just what failed. Read the kit options closely: the two-joint choices are either two lowers or one upper and one lower, and the set of four covers a complete front end.
Do these require A-arm modification?
No. Standard Keller joints thread straight into the factory arm. Only the oversized Mega version needs machined A-arms, and no Mega joint is published for the Xpedition.
Are they worth it if I mostly ride loaded but not aggressively?
Weight is the point. A fully loaded overlanding machine puts sustained load through the front end even at moderate speed, and that is the condition where snap ring retention is least forgiving. The upgrade is about eliminating a failure mode, not chasing performance.
Can these be rebuilt rather than replaced?
Yes. They grease and adjust, and the Keller ball joint rebuild kit for Polaris restores them with a new cup, boot and pin when the internals wear.

The design has barely changed because it does not need to: thread the housing in like a nut and bolt, use a chromoly stud, and make the whole assembly serviceable so a worn joint gets rebuilt rather than binned.

Before ordering, confirm whether you have an ADV or XP, and whether it is a two-row or five-seat model, then decide between a single replacement and a full front-end set. If the joints are sound but a boot has torn, the Keller boot replacement kit is the cheaper repair. If the joints are worn but the housings are good, the Keller rebuild kit for Polaris services them. Riders building for long routes usually carry a rebuild kit as a trail spare once the joints are in.
