Do I need a head unit with this kit?
Yes — any aftermarket head unit with preamp outputs works. We recommend the Wet Sounds MC-20 or DMR0 (sold separately).

Does this work with the earliest 2017 X3 models with the original steering rack recall?
No — this kit is not compatible with the very earliest 2017 X3 models that had the larger steering box subject to the recall. All post-recall 2017+ models are compatible.
