The SmartWire Backup / Reverse Light Kit for Polaris General (2016–current) is a plug-and-play reverse lighting controller designed for quick installation and reliable operation. Unlike traditional aftermarket lighting systems that require cutting wires, installing switches, or complex wiring, this system connects directly to the vehicle’s diagnostic CAN port and communicates with the ECU.

The SmartWire controller reads ECU signals in real time and automatically activates reverse lights the moment the vehicle is shifted into reverse. This eliminates manual switches and complicated wiring while ensuring precise and dependable lighting operation.

This base kit includes the SmartWire controller and wiring harness only. Lights are not included, allowing riders to connect their preferred reverse lighting setup.

The SmartWire system includes a built-in manual override mode that allows reverse lights to be activated when needed.

• Shift the vehicle into neutral
• Press and hold the brake pedal for two seconds
• Reverse lights will automatically turn on and remain illuminated

To turn them off, simply repeat the same process.
