The tie rod is the part of a Honda Talon 1000X steering system that gives up first, and a bent one turns every corner into a guess. These LM UTV Honda Talon 1000X 7075 Steering Tie Rods are CNC machined from 7075 aluminum, use the OEM inner joint, and carry 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Rod-ends on the outer end. Two adjustable length rods, so toe is set on the car.

Because the kit uses the OEM inner joint, the install stays on the outboard half of the steering: the rod, the rod end and the pins. Those pins are 1 Piece Heat treated 17-4 Stainless Steel pins, and the whole kit is a Direct Bolt-on Replacement available in machined finished, Black Powder Coat or Powder coated to the color of your choice.

Built To Solve: Bent Tie Rods And Loose Steering On The Honda Talon 1000X

  • A tie rod that folds on a rock or a rut edge. These are CNC machined from 7075 aluminum rather than formed from a thin factory tube, so the rod is not the designed-in fuse any more.
  • Steering that pulls one way after a hit. A tweaked rod puts toe somewhere you never set it, and the machine tracks wrong from that point on.
  • Outer ends that go slack and notchy in dust. The outers are 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Rod-ends, a serviceable jointed end instead of a sealed factory ball.
  • Pins that wear oval and add play at the joint. The kit uses 1 Piece Heat treated 17-4 Stainless Steel pins at the connection rather than a soft plated pin.
  • No practical way to set toe. Both rods are adjustable length, so alignment is dialed with the rods in place rather than accepted as whatever the part measures.

Best For: Honda Talon 1000X Owners Fixing Or Upgrading Steering Without Replacing The Inner Joint

  • Talon 1000X owners who have bent a factory tie rod and want a stronger replacement in its place
  • Riders in rocks, ruts and technical trail where the front wheels take direct impacts
  • Owners chasing steering play at the outer end whose inner joint is still tight — this kit uses the OEM inner joint and leaves it alone
  • Anyone who wants to set toe properly, since the kit is 2 Adjustable length tie rods
  • Builders matching the machine, with machined finished, Black Powder Coat or Powder coated to the color of your choice
  • If you own a Honda Talon 1000R, this is not your kit — LM UTV lists Talon 1000R tie rods under a separate part number, and you should buy by the badge on your machine

Fitment

Fits Talon 1000X models. LM UTV sells this kit by model rather than by model year, so there is no published year range to check against — confirm the parts against your own machine before ordering. The Honda Talon 1000R is a separate part number and is not covered here. Because the kit uses the OEM inner joint, that joint needs to be in serviceable condition on your machine. Fitment is not guaranteed on applications not listed here.

FAQ

Why does the factory tie rod bend on a Honda Talon 1000X?

It is the slimmest structural link between the rack and the knuckle, so an impact at the wheel loads it straight through. This kit replaces it with a rod CNC machined from 7075 aluminum and a 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Rod-end at the outer end.

My steering has play in it. Will this kit fix it?

If the play is at the outer end or at the pin, yes — the kit brings new 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Rod-ends and 1 Piece Heat treated 17-4 Stainless Steel pins. If the play is in the OEM inner joint, this kit will not address it, because it uses the OEM inner joint rather than replacing it.

What model years does this kit fit?

LM UTV does not publish a year range for this kit. It is sold by model — it fits Talon 1000X models — so the honest answer is to confirm the parts against your own machine rather than against a year. If you want certainty for your specific car, check with us before ordering.

What exactly comes in the kit?

2 Adjustable length tie rods, 1 Piece Heat treated 17-4 Stainless Steel pins and 3 Piece Chromolly PTFE lined 5/8 Rod-ends. The inner joint is not included, because the kit uses the OEM inner joint already on the machine.

Do I need to cut, drill or weld anything to fit them?

No. LM UTV lists the kit as a Direct Bolt-on Replacement, so it installs on the factory mounting points. Since both rods are adjustable length, set toe after they are on and recheck it after the first ride.

How is this different from the Honda Talon 1000R tie rods?

They are separate products under separate part numbers. This one is listed for Talon 1000X models; LM UTV builds the Talon 1000R tie rods as their own kit. Buy by the model badge on your machine rather than by the fact that both are Honda Talon parts.

Why LM UTV

LM UTV combines engineering and manufacturing knowledge with modern design to build UTV products aimed squarely at broken or malfunctioning OEM parts, and every part is Designed and Manufactured in-house, in the USA with a Lifetime warranty behind it. That in-house approach is why a Honda Talon steering kit like this one names the rod-end construction, the pin alloy and what it does with the inner joint instead of stopping at a marketing adjective.

Finish Your Honda Talon 1000X Steering Tie Rod Upgrade

Confirm you are on a Talon 1000X and not a 1000R, then choose the finish — machined finished, Black Powder Coat or Powder coated to the color of your choice — since that is decided at build time. While the old rods are off, check the OEM inner joint for play, because this kit carries it over. Set the adjustable length on both rods, then align the front end and recheck toe after a shakedown run rather than at the end of the season.
