The Ranger XD 1500 is the heaviest machine Polaris builds, and a stock ball joint is held in by nothing more than a snap ring. Load it with a lift, oversized tires and a full bed and that ring is the part that gives. Keller ball joints delete it entirely — the threaded 4340 chromoly housing screws into the A-arm like a nut and bolt, so there is no clip to deform and nothing to push out.
This is Todd Keller's original two-piece design, covering the XD 1500 and Crew XD 1500 from 2024 onward. Buy an upper, a lower, or a full front-end set of four.

- Backed by a lifetime warranty
- Made in USA
Built To Solve: Ranger XD 1500 Ball Joint Pull-Out Under Load
- Snap ring deforming or shearing and letting the joint separate from the A-arm
- Clunking from the front end under a loaded bed or on rough worksite ground
- Play felt when the wheel is rocked top-to-bottom on a jack
- Repeat OEM joint failures on an XD 1500 running added lift or larger tires
- Torn boots letting water and grit wear the joint from the inside
- A work machine that cannot afford downtime for the same repair twice

FAQ
Why do Ranger XD 1500 ball joints pull out of the A-arm?
The factory joint is retained by a snap ring seated in a groove. On a machine this heavy — especially one carrying a lift, bigger tires or a loaded bed — that ring can deform or shear, and once it does nothing is holding the joint. Keller joints thread into the A-arm instead, so there is no clip in the load path.
Do these fit the Crew XD 1500?
Yes. Polaris Ranger Crew XD 1500 NorthStar Premium, NorthStar Ultimate and Premium are all covered from 2024 onward, the same as the two-row models.
Do I need uppers, lowers, or both?
Uppers and lowers are different parts and are sold separately so you can replace only what has failed. Note the kit codes carefully: the two-joint options are either two lowers or one upper and one lower, and the set of four covers two of each for a complete front end.
Do Keller ball joints require A-arm modification?
No. Standard Keller joints thread into the factory A-arm as-is. Only the Mega version, which uses an oversized housing, requires machined A-arms — and there is no Mega joint published for the XD 1500.
Will these handle a lift kit and oversized tires?
That is the load case they exist for. Keller states this joint will carry a big lift and tires through worksite and trail use. Added lift and larger tires increase leverage on the joint, which is exactly when snap ring retention tends to let go.
Can these be rebuilt instead of replaced?
Yes. They grease and adjust, and the Keller ball joint rebuild kit for Polaris services them with a new cup, boot and pin when the internals eventually wear.
Why Keller
Todd Keller designed the two-piece threaded ball joint to fix the one part of a stock front end that keeps failing, and SuperATV now builds and backs the line. The design has barely changed because it does not need to: thread the housing in like a nut and bolt, use a chromoly stud, and make the whole assembly serviceable so a worn joint gets rebuilt rather than binned.
Complete Your Ranger XD 1500 Front End
Before ordering, confirm your trim and whether you have the two-row or Crew model, then decide whether you are replacing a single failure or refreshing all four corners. If the joints are sound but a boot has split, the Keller boot replacement kit is the cheaper fix. If the joints are worn but the housings are good, the Keller rebuild kit for Polaris services them. Owners doing a full front end usually look at tie rod ends and A-arm bushings while everything is already apart.
