Configuration

In stock

This is the strongest upper ball joint Keller makes for the Honda Pioneer 1000, and it will not fit a stock A-arm. The Mega uses a substantially larger housing and stud than the standard Keller joint — so much larger that the A-arm has to be machined to accept it. On a machine that hauls, tows and works loaded, that extra material goes exactly where the failures happen.

Three things to check before ordering. Mega ball joints require modification of your A-arms. This is an upper joint only — there is no Mega lower for this machine. And it covers the 2016-2021 Pioneer only, not the 2022-onward car.

Key Features

  • Oversized housing and stud — significantly more material than the standard Keller joint
  • Two-piece threaded design, no OEM snap ring
  • 4340 hardened chromoly steel housing and stud
  • Adjustable, greaseable and rebuildable
  • Upper position only — pair with standard Keller lowers
  • Requires machined A-arms — not a bolt-in upgrade
  • Limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects
  • Made in USA

Built To Solve: Repeat Upper Ball Joint Failure On A Working Pioneer

  • Standard-size uppers that keep failing on a machine that is always loaded
  • Snap ring shearing and letting the joint separate from the A-arm
  • Clunking or knocking from the front end on rough ground and washboard
  • Play in the wheel when rocked top-to-bottom on a jack
  • Big-tire and lifted builds that outgrow a stock-size joint
  • Owners who have already fitted heavy-duty uppers and broken those too

Best For: Hard-Working Pioneers With Modified A-Arms

  • Pioneer 1000 and 1000-5 owners already running aftermarket or machined arms
  • Ranch, property and hunting machines that never run empty
  • Owners running larger tires and a lift
  • Anyone who has broken uppers specifically and wants more material in that position
  • Riders having A-arms machined anyway and wanting the strongest upper available while it is apart

Not compatible with Portal Gear Lifts. If your Pioneer runs portals, this is not the correct joint.

FAQ

Why is there no Mega lower for this machine?

SuperATV only produces the Mega in the upper position for the Pioneer 1000. Run standard Keller lowers alongside these — they are a different part number and do not require machined arms.

What actually has to be modified on the A-arm?

The Mega housing is larger than the bore a factory arm provides, so the upper arm has to be machined to accept it. This is permanent — an arm cut for a Mega will not go back to a standard joint. Have it done by a shop that has cut arms for these before.

Will these fit my 2022-or-newer Pioneer?

No. Honda changed the joint for 2022 and the Mega covers the earlier car only. The standard Keller Pioneer 1000 listing carries the correct 2022+ parts.

Will these work with Portal Gear Lifts?

No. SuperATV specifically lists these as not compatible with Portal Gear Lifts.

Should I buy the Mega or the standard Keller upper?

If your A-arms are stock and staying stock, buy the standard — it threads in as supplied and solves the snap-ring failure just as completely. The Mega is for machines already running machined or aftermarket arms, or ones where the standard upper has failed under load.

Can these be rebuilt?

Yes. They grease and adjust, and the Keller ball joint rebuild kit for Honda carries a BJKM-H-MP1000U option specifically for this joint.

Why Keller

Todd Keller designed the two-piece threaded ball joint to fix the one part of a stock front end that keeps failing, and SuperATV now builds and backs the line. The Mega is what happens when that design is taken as far as the geometry allows: the same threaded housing and chromoly stud, scaled up past the point a factory A-arm can accept.

Before You Order

Check all three: machined A-arms, model year inside 2016-2021, and no portals. Remember this is the upper only — plan on standard Keller lowers to complete the front end. If the boots are torn but the joints are sound, the Keller boot replacement kit covers the Mega. If the joints are worn but the housings are good, the BJKM-H-MP1000U option in the Keller rebuild kit for Honda services them.
