Wind straight into the face is the first thing an open Polaris RZR RS1 gives you, and this UTV Zilla half windshield cuts it with a 3/16-inch polycarbonate panel whose large upper lip throws the air over your head instead of into it.

The lip is the detail that matters. UTV Zilla builds a deliberately large upper lip into this panel to deflect more air than small-lip half windshields, which is the difference between a half windshield that works and one that just moves the buffeting around.

It mounts on anodized billet clamps with knobs made for quick removal, so it comes off in seconds for a hot day or a wash with no tools at all, and a rubber seal between the panel and the bodywork stops rattles and keeps the edge from wearing into the plastics. Three versions: clear and tinted at the same price, neither hard coated, and a hard-coated version for $20 more that UTV Zilla recommends if scratch resistance matters.

Key Features

  • 3/16" polycarbonate construction
  • Large upper lip deflects more air than small-lip windshields
  • Rubber seal to help protect plastics and prevent rattling
  • Anodized billet mounts and knobs for quick removal - no tools
  • Three options: clear, tinted, or hard coated for scratch resistance
  • Made in the USA

Built To Solve: Wind Buffeting And Face-Level Roost On A Polaris RZR RS1

  • An open RS1 puts wind straight into the rider's face, which is what makes you squint and back off the throttle
  • Roost and small debris off the front tires arrive at face height with nothing in the way
  • A full windshield shuts out the airflow you actually want on a hot desert day
  • Small-lip half windshields move the buffeting rather than removing it
  • Panels that mount hard against the bodywork rattle and wear a line into the plastics
  • Bolted windshields are a wrench job every time you want them off
  • Uncoated polycarbonate hazes quickly if it is washed with a dry rag

Best For: RS1 Riders Who Want Wind Protection Without Losing Airflow

  • Hot-climate and desert riders who need the wind off their face but not the air out of the cockpit
  • Owners who want to pull the windshield in under a minute for a wash or a hot afternoon
  • Riders who care about buffeting specifically - the large upper lip is the reason to choose this one
  • Budget-minded buyers: $95 clear or tinted, versus $229 for the hard-coated full windshield
  • Choose the Hard Coated version at $115 if the machine gets washed often or the panel stays on year-round - UTV Zilla states the other two are not hard coated
  • Not the right pick if you want weather actually shut out; that is the full polycarbonate or vented glass windshield

Fitment

Fits the Polaris RZR RS1. UTV Zilla publishes fitment for this windshield with no model years stated, so no year restriction is applied here. This differs from UTV Zilla's RS1 roofs, which are published as 2018-2022 - each product follows its own stated fitment.

Designed around the stock RS1 configuration. Polycarbonate panels may not fit alongside aftermarket roofs, rear windows, cab enclosures, roof-mounted stereos or oversized mirror clamps. Fitment is not guaranteed on applications that are not listed - check your machine's configuration before ordering.

FAQ

Which of the three versions should I buy?

If you are going to leave it on and wash the machine with a hose, pay the extra $20 for the Hard Coated version - UTV Zilla states plainly that the regular and tinted ones are not hard coated and recommends the coated one for scratch resistance. Tinted costs the same as clear and cuts glare, so if scratches are not your worry, choose on glare and looks.

Does a half windshield actually stop much wind?

More than most, because of the lip. UTV Zilla builds a large upper lip into this one specifically to deflect more air than small-lip half windshields - the lip is what throws the airflow over your head rather than into your face. It will not seal the cockpit like a full windshield, which is the point: you still get airflow in the heat.

How quickly can I take it off?

Seconds, with no tools. It mounts on anodized billet clamps with knobs designed for quick removal, so you can pull it for a hot day or a wash and put it back without touching a wrench. That is the practical advantage over a bolted windshield.

Will it rattle or mark my plastics?

There is a rubber seal fitted specifically to stop both. It sits between the panel and the bodywork, which kills the rattle and keeps the windshield edge from wearing a line into the plastics - the usual complaint with a panel that mounts hard against the body.

Which RS1 model years does it fit?

UTV Zilla publishes fitment as the Polaris RS1 with no model years stated, so no year restriction is applied here. Note that is different from their RS1 roofs, which are published as 2018-2022 - we follow whatever the manufacturer states for each product rather than normalising it.

Should I get this or a full windshield?

Half if you want airflow and a lighter, cheaper panel you can pull in a minute; full if you want the weather actually shut out. The RS1 hard-coated full polycarbonate windshield is $229 against $95-$115 here, and the vented glass windshield is the top of the range. A half windshield is a wind deflector, not an enclosure.

Why UTV Zilla

UTV Zilla builds windshields, roofs, rear windows and doors across Polaris, Can-Am, Kawasaki and Arctic Cat platforms, and the line is priced to protect a machine without rivalling what the machine cost. Panels are CNC cut in the USA.

The honesty is the useful part here. UTV Zilla says outright that the clear and tinted versions are not hard coated and tells you to buy the coated one if you care about scratches - rather than selling three options and letting you find out which one hazes.

Choose Your RS1 Coverage: Half, Full Polycarbonate Or Glass

This half windshield is the airflow choice. If you want the weather genuinely shut out, the UTV Zilla RS1 hard-coated full polycarbonate windshield covers the whole opening at $229, and the vented glass windshield with wiper is the top of the range. Either way, decide between clear, tinted and hard coated before adding to the cart - clear and tinted are the same price, and the $20 step up to hard coated is the one UTV Zilla itself recommends if the panel lives on the machine. The RS1 roofs, doors and rear window finish the cab.
