Demon Polaris General 1000 X-Treme Long Travel Axle 5" (2015-2025)

Polaris General 1000 owners run out of axle strength before they run out of nerve. This Demon x-treme heavy duty axle is a direct-fit replacement for the listed 2015-2025 General 1000 applications, built to hold up where the stock part gives in.

Demon’s X-Treme Heavy Duty Axles are “Hell Rated” — upgraded from the Heavy Duty line to handle the harshest terrain in desert, sand, mud, rock and short course racing. The entire axle is 4340 chromoly steel, in and out: shaft, housing, cage, race and balls. Larger CV joints and shafts are paired with a proprietary dual heat treatment process and a re-engineered cage design, the internal components are micro-polished so the CVs do not heat up the way a standard joint does, and molybdenum grease lubricates the internals.

4340 chromoly is more elastic than stock material, so the shaft and its components absorb stress and keep it within themselves instead of transferring it into the differential and on through the drivetrain — that protects the rest of the driveline, not just the axle. The X-Treme line is also built to work with the major long travel suspension and lift kits, and Demon backs it with an industry-first two-year limited warranty.

FAQ

Is this one axle or a pair?

One axle, sold each. Order quantity two if you are replacing both sides.

Why do stock axles break?

Axles fail where the shaft and CV joint run out of articulation and plunge travel under load. Demon uses larger CV joints and shafts and a dual heat treated chromoly shaft to raise that limit.

What are TPEE boots?

Thermoplastic polyester elastomer. Demon uses them because they are stiffer and more fatigue, puncture and temperature resistant than a standard OEM boot — boots are where many axle failures start.

How is this different from the Heavy Duty version?

The X-Treme line runs 4340 chromoly through the shaft, housing, cage, race and balls, with micro-polished internals. Heavy Duty uses a dual heat treated chromoly shaft with a 4340 inner cage.
