Belts

The continuously variable transmission (CVT) in your off-road machine depends on a UTV or ATV belt to drive things forward. This single part may look simple, comprised of mostly rubber and Kevlar, but it’s got a tough job and is exposed to many stressors pulling on it. If you’re losing power or experiencing other transmission issues, it may be time to replace your UTV or ATV drive belt. We’re here to shed a little more light on this part and the heavy lifting it does which, in turn, should set you up to buy the best UTV belt for the job.

Running top-condition ATV and UTV drive belts is a must if you demand the best performance and optimal torque out of your vehicle. The installation process on an ATV, UTV, or other SxS means you’ll pair the primary and second clutches with the engine and transmission; the magic of CVTs is that the belt with move on its own relative to the crank’s output speed. Under normal circumstances, these rubber belts will stretch over time, wear out and lose their shape, miss a tooth, or get rounded off on the edges. All of these conditions and more will have a negative impact on performance so inspection and regular replacement is advisable.

Which is right for you — a belt recommended by the manufacturer or an aftermarket product? It’s a matter of preference and experience, but Dunes 2 Dezert SXS can help you nail down exactly what you want, with products from CanAm, Polaris, Trinity, G-Boost, Gates, and Super ATV.
